Van Morrison will be performing his 1968 album Astral Weeks in its entirty during a two night run at the famed Hollywood Bowl in California. The November 7th and 8th shows will also feature some original players from the classic album and will be taped for a future DVD dubbed Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl. Tickets hit the streets on October 5th.

Van Morrison is set for two landmark performances at the Hollywood Bowl later next month. The singer will play his famous 1968 album ‘Astral Weeks‘ in its entirety and will be accompanied by some of the original musicians who appeared on the album. The special performance will take place on two nights, November 7 and 8.

According to the awesomely named Mitchell Peters of Billboard, Van Morrison is set to perform his seminal album Astral Weeks in full, and he's performing it twice. The shows will be held November 7-8 at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl, will feature some of the album's original musicians, and promises nudity! The Van Morrison vinyl has been on heavy rotation in our house since Valentine's Day. My wife and I are seriously considering referring to Valentine's Day as Van Morrison Day for the rest of our lives.

I have been fixated on the old school lately. Its just nice to go back and listen to some of these classic records. The stuff that set the table for everything that i am loving now...
Today's album was Van Morrison's 'Astral Weeks'....so, so, so good.

So, this girl I started seeing recently and I are sitting around listening to records. She asks me if I have the Van Morrison album with "Sweet Thing" on it. So I throw on "Astral Weeks," and she says how much she loves the song and how excited she is to finally hear it on vinyl and that she couldn't find it. (It IS a hard record to find, at least in the Rust Belt.) So anyway, I give her my extra copy that I had laying around and never got around to selling on eBay. Not ... MORE

Feeling inspired by Known Human's 501 post so I have to mog about this all time top album. One of my favorite music writers is Mogging heavy-weight, music journalist legend Michael Goldberg. i'd grown up listening to Van Morrison. i can't ever remember not enjoying his music. there's something different though, when you enjoy a thing simply because you've always been exposed to it as opposed to discovering it on your own. every once in awhile though, you discover some other aspect of it that you didn't notice before and suddenly, you have this different love for it, like you've truly made it your own. this is what happened to me and my love of Van Morrison....
