It was good to see the complete show after Charlotte's "shortened"set list last weekend due to coming on late and the city's curfew for outdoor venues. These guys really rocked!
We got there as soon as the gates opened and with pit tickts we made it to the front immediately and took our place front and center at the rail. I was able to grab one beer on the way and still secure a spot right at the front. The opening act was called Tab the band. I had never heard of them before but they have a CD out and played a pretty respectable 5 song set. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club followed with a set similar to the one they did at Virgin Mobile Fest last w... MORE
Well, it's been a bit since this transpired, but I figure I'll share anyway. May in Indianapolis can only really mean one thing. It's time for the Indy 500 again. Every year, the track hosts a concert for Carb Day. Usually, it's Kid Rock or some nu metal band that really doesn't do much for me. This year was different though. Stone Temple Pilots were headlining the concert, and I thought that a day of sunshine, a little racing and a huge group of race fans would be t... MORE
Scott Weiland Photo: Kathy G This is a week late, but I had to post. Last Sunday, I went to the WBCN River Rave here in Boston. For those that are not from here, WBCN is a local rock station that hosts several top bands at a festival-like concert each year. Many of us in Boston see it as a "first concert of summer" type show, whether you go or not. This year, it was announced that Stone Temple Pilots would be playing. If you don’t know about STP and the illustrious S... MORE
It's official: Stone Temple Pilots are back. As previously reported the group certified their reunion and upcoming tour at the former Los Angeles mansion of legendary magician Harry Houdini.(VIDEO BELOW) Since then, the group has confirmed a staggering 65-city North American tour, which starts May 17. "The story's not finished ... there's more to be revealed and more to be told," explained Weiland. Also, As previously reported, Velvet Revolver, the super-... MORE
If you want to go to an insane concert, hope Stone Temple Pilots are coming to your town soon. Their show is amazing from beginning to end and transforms people from casual fans to mega fans. Scott Weiland unfortunately is still doing drugs you can occasionally tell by some of his mannerisms, but he still sounds good and moves around a stage better than most performing musicians these days. Also, Rob and Dean DeLeo sound amazing. Their concert is an overall display of show... MORE
The Stone Temple Pilots debut album will never make any critics list of all time favorites, nor should it really. Scott Weiland takes turns imitating some of his favorite singers through most of the album - Eddie Vedder on 'Plush' for example. It's seemed more like an homage to what was popular at time as opposed to a record of any real consequence. And I love it. Almost every note of it. It didn't matter that NONE of the lyrics made any sense whatsoever.
I was still i... MORE
I have momentarily decided that this is my favorite STP album (despite it not having my favorite song by the Pilots). Not because of the hits it contains, though. I love songs like "Meatplow", "Pretty Penny", and this little rockin' tune.
