Yesterday, Rage held their much anticipated rally in St. Paul, Minnesota. I've always thought the band was kinda full of bullshit, as they go from festival to festival picking up big paychecks and then rallying up for the common man. This week I really wish I lived in Denver. The place is going off as it hosts the Democratic National Convention. The Barack-a-thon is attracting everyone from Rage Against the Machine to the Cold War Kids. It’s like a mini-Lollapalooza spread out over four days in the mile-high city. I went through all the Lollapalooza 2008 YouTube footage so you wouldn't have to! Some of its really good quality some of it's crappy, but does a better job giving you a feel for the festival. Better than last year? DEFINEITELY!

I'm back, bitches! So, prior to June 7, 2008 I knew jack shit about Rage Against the Machine. Sure, I had heard a couple of their songs, but...whatever, just another white guy trying to rap. As if the warnings about major congestion are not enough, it looks like there will be more fuel added to the fire come this September 3rd. We here in Minnesota have been warned about the hazards of traveling downtown during the Republican National Convention which will be held here September 3, 2008. Rage Against The Machine have linked up with the Iraq Veterans Against the War and Tent State University to perform in the "Tent State Music Festival to End the War". The event takes place on Wednesday, August 27th at the Denver Coliseum. Joining Rage will be The Coup, Flobots, State Radio, and Wayne Kramer. Doors open at 9:30am and the show starts at 11:00am. I'm always frustrated when I hear stories of peaceful demonstrations gone awry. The rioting that ensued after "protesters" smashed windows at this years Republican National Convention flew me into a frenzy. Iron Giant and I were talking about it a couple days ago when she said, with confidence, that even though "99%" of the demonstrators were peaceful, people will only talk about those few rotten apples that made a bad name for everyone else. I stumbled across this site earlier yesterday for those interested in hearing the Rage Against the Machine acapella during the RNC. You can go to Charley Rogulewski's post to read more about it, or not if you're tired of hearing about it.
