Alllright alright...I've had enough of electronic producers sampling older rock songs and making them into smash hits. Okay, I lied. I love it, I love every cheesy minute of it. Here’s a new one from Christian Sims that samples the oh so classic Flash’s Theme (or Flash) by legendary rockers Queen. This remake is currently being supported by a slew of jocks including Laidback Luke. The remix isn’t really similar to the original except for the bitchin’ sample. This tune... MORE

Queen + Paul Rodgers will release their new album, "The Cosmos Rocks", in Europe on September 15 and the U.S./Canada on October 14 via EMI. A single, "C-lebrity", will precede the album on September 8. "C-lebrity" was written and produced by Brian May, Paul Rodgers and Roger Taylor. Many of Queen's best-known songs have been written in humor, and "C-lebrity" follows in this pattern; it is a comment on the celebrity-driven times in which we live where the myriad of reali... MORE
Unless you have your head buried deeply under the sand, there's no way you missed that the New York Giants are the Super Bowl victors. On Super Tuesday / Mardi Gras and the eve of Chinese Lunar New Year (which actually begins today), there was a Victory Parade complete with ticker tape and all the fanfare in the Canyon of Heroes in Manhattan's downtown financial district... quite a LOT of whoop-di-doo for a single day...
Today, as she was describing the mood downtown when... MORE
One thing I'm always amazed with here in MOGville is the sense of community. I know that's a common recurring theme in a lot of our posts, but that doesn't make it any less special. I'm surprised on a daily basis that I'm still just has gung ho about MOG as I was a year and a bit ago when I first started out. This is the longest I've ever stayed active in any sort of online community, and the great thing is I'm still just as excited about it as I always was. Of course... MORE
A market research company in England has named Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody the best pop song ever after polling 10,000 music fans. The song reached #1 on the charts in both 1975 and 1991 spending a total of 14 weeks on top. The song was also named the best single in the last 25 years by the British Phonographic Industry, and inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in the past.
Here's the rest of the list voted as "best pop songs" 1. 'Bohemian Rhapsody' - Queen 2. 'Y.M.C.... MORE

Artist Beryl Cook, known for her colourful and comic paintings of larger-than-life ladies, has died at the age of 81.
She died peacefully at her home in Plymouth on Wednesday with her husband and family at her side.
Cook had no formal training and did not take up painting until her 40s, but her work went on to become hugely popular.
Cook's paintings document familiar social situations like girls on a hen night, in a nightclub or shopping, men in the pub, at a strip club or... MORE

I am not one to argue about stupid lists like this...but I thought this one was at least interesting enough to share. Spin listed their list of best 'Rock Anthem' bands ever...here it is...with some of my thoughts after: 1. U2 -- If the word anthemic disappeared, U2-ish would be a good replacement. Bono always sounds like he's singing mass, the Edge's guitar rings like the trumpets at Jericho, and Larry Mullen's rhythmic stiffness is a virtue. Adam Clayton? He, uh, alw... MORE
I found this as an mp3 on someone's drive a few years ago and it's been a fairly consistent joy ever since. Everything that's great musically about Queen. Everything that's great vocally about George Michael. I had no idea where it was from until I found this on YouTube - the Freddy Mercury Tribute at Wembley back in...1990? According to a comment on the page, George has said this is his best ever performance. I can believe it. Maybe that's why he plays so seldom. Or may... MORE
Following the sad tradition of former Idols Ruben Studdard, Taylor Hicks, and Kat McPhee, American Idol runner up Blake Lewis just got canned from his label. It's not that surprising Arista dumped him, but this firing comes particularly fast compared to the others. The beat boxing ex-Idol claimed he never wanted to be signed to a major label anyways, but isn't that what everyone says when they're publicly tossed to the side? Do you think this is a sign that American Id... MORE
