Norah Jones has never been one of my favorite artists, mainly because most of her songs sound exactly the same to me. So I was pleasantly surprised when I came across "Sinkin' Soon," a kicky tune from her latest album. The combination of the piano, banjo, trumpet, and sultry voice of Miss Jones makes me want to throw on my glad rags and curl up in a booth at a swanky juice joint with a cold glass of giggle water.

Yeah, we know that sales of CDs are down, way down. And they've been dropping for years now. But do we know the dirty details? Overall album sales for the January 1, 2007 - April 2, 2007 period are down 16.6% to 117.1 million units, led by a 20.5% decline in CD album sales, Billboard reports. That I can't get out. Almost every morning there is a song playing in my head, full volume. Some day there is some good REM sleep imagery attatched to it which wakes me up, some days when my eyes open I'm in mid song. Does the problem some people have with Norah Jones stem from her rapid ascension and the fact (beyond her control) that she became the poster girl for the Starbucksization of pop music? I've been playing her new album this morning, and I'm a little embarrassed to admit how much I like it, because it just seems so uncool, but it strikes me that if she hadn't become this multi-platinum phenom, the cool kids would be talking up this talented, pretty, unassuming, NYC-based s... Blame Lucy for putting me in a Gram Parsons state of mind...not that it takes much to do that! I am still waiting for Norah to do an entire album of Gram songs...how amazing would that be?

Wow, this new Norah Jones album is the shit. I kid you not. Gentle and sexy, no cheese in sight (yet, I'm only four tracks in).

Mmmk... I have not played these songs... Has anyone else encountered ghost plays? It's not like all these songs suck, but it's simply not accurate.
