But I just had to. From Pitchfork: Elephant 6 Crew to Embark on "Holiday Surprise Tour" Pretty cool. Like it says there's no guarantee Jeff Mangum will be there. But, I mean, the guy hasn't done jack shit in like 8 years....he's gotta be bored just sitting around his house all day. He is in this though. Last week, we wrote a li'l report about Jeff Mangum possibly joining the E6 Holiday Surprise Tour for a couple shows (TMT News). Well, the possibility turned into reality earlier than expected at last night's Knitting Factory gig in New York, as Jeff Mangum unexpectedly hopped on stage and performed three songs — "The Arrow Flies Close" by Elf Power and both "The Opera House" and "I Have Been Floated" by Olivia Tremor Control.

I've been sitting on this one for a while, but it's begging to be put on. Here's a cover of one of my all time favorite songs "In An Aeroplane Over the Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel. The band doing the covering is The Chairs. I think I got it at WAWSTSF . It's a good version. There is only one Jeff Mangum, but since he's so elusive, it's good to hear someone singing this timeless song. Check the original and the cover.

My opinion? Our candy-intoxicating, Swedish Fish friends are planning a massive hostile take over. They're tired of being stuck between the cheap theater seats of our local cinemas, forced to watch the crappy acting of Matthew McConaughey. They are sick of being squished and morphed on the sidewalks of busy inner-city streets. Hell, I would be too.

I'm going to Nice, France tomorrow (with YellowBird) and being on a plane is one of my favourite places to listen to music, especially during take-off. Thankfully I can hide the earphones with my hair so the air stewards don't see and make me turn it off :) We usually listen to the same album on our own ipods when we fly, sorta synchronised, and we usually choose a new release which we haven't heard yet, but we can't decide which album to pick this time. So, thanks to a fellow Mogger I found my "one and only savior" while reading an article about Jeff Mangum, which actually wasn't in a post about him or Neutral Milk Hotel but rather about Miles Kurosky. It seems to be an odd twist of fate that I recently finished reading the 33 1/3 series on "In The Aeroplane Over the Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel and immediately came to realize that it celebrated its 10 year Anniversary on February 10th. The story of Neutral Milk Hotel is not like that of many other popular bands.
