This is my yeah! video this week. It is "Jed's Other Poem (Beautiful Song)" by the now defunct, Grandaddy. It is off of the Sophtware Slump Lp. I guess it was programmed on a 1979 Apple with only 48K of RAM! Enjoy.

This track is one of the songs I think you should be listening to because it is not part of the currently available Grandaddy albums . It is representative of what Grandaddy could do; sweet & sour songs - sweet melodies & sour lyrics. Grandaddy is no more but the music lives on.... MORE

Grandaddy - "Crystal Lake"
My friend Aaron gave me a mix cd of Grandaddy a few years ago and I didn't listen to it for a long time.
When I finally did, I spent the next hour kicking myself in the ass for having waited so long.
"Crystal Lake" is one of my favorite songs of theirs. My #1 favorite is "Miner at the Dial-A-View." They just broke up.

i know it's been said many times before, but i wish this band didn't break up. they had such a great vibe going on, and were excellent in concert. plus i had a huge crush on the lead singer... hehe. i always loved this song, just saw the video today for the first time. enjoy.... MORE

Grandaddy has ceased to exist as a group. The unclassifiable band from Modesto, led by Jason Lytle has called it quits. Lytle continues touring on his own.
I think Grandaddy's music will never die. It is probably the only music I never get tired of. Candid and sophisticated at the same time, with lyrics that really are out of the ordinary, the songs grow on you and stay in your head a long time.
Long live Grandaddy.... MORE

This album gets better every time I play it.
It came as a recommendation at amazon, who sometimes don't disappoint. The "Customers who bought this item also bought" section listed Tom McRae, Ed Harcourt, Ben Christophers (all of whom I'm already into), and lastly - Grandaddy. It should be noted first that Grandaddy sounds nothing like these artists, though I'm grateful to amazon for their suggestion.

This may be a more obscure band for some of you who read this blog, but I don’t really consider them obscure.
I used to work at a graphic design firm and they always played music really loudly over the speakers. In the summer of 2003 the album Sumday, by Grandaddy was on continuous play.
