I'm on a roll tonight. Not sure what's got into me. Guess the music is just inspiring me to post. Here's an unreleased song by Erykah that more than likely will be on her next album, which may or may not be out before the year is out. I hope the cd will be out soon.
Anyway, check out this video for the remix by DJ Tha 4Orce, it's da shit:

This is a really cool fan club site that I'm a member of which is rare for me, since I don't usually join fan sites. This one is unique in that you can earn points for helping promote your favorite artist(if they are part of this site)& eventually get cool artist related swag.
It's pretty low key & you can choose how much you want to do. It's also really cool to meet other fans too. A great concept of employing word of mouth, superfans & the power of t... MORE
It was a dark and stormy night...actually it was only windy, but ominous clouds were in the air, when The Roots and Erykah Badu were set to take stage in Norfolk, VA.
The show started at 8, and I arrived sometime around 8:30.
The Roots had taken already stage, and had enlisted one hell of a sousaphone player, "Tuba Gooding Jr." to join the crew.
The highlight of their set for me was a take on "You Got Me", with a duration somewhere along the lines of fifteen minute... MORE

I just learned that April 19, 2008 was Record Store Day, an opportunity to celebrate independent record stores. As record stores slowly vanish across the country, it is revealing that April 19 came and went with little fanfare. Perhaps, like me, the event was invisible to you, too. And I’m sorry I missed it, because I value the place of music stores in our culture. But it got me thinking about how music is accessed and sold these days.
I’m not fond of vinyl — I don’t mis... MORE

Gotta post this one, it's just to good to not share! This is a remix by Fire Hazard Productions of Erykah's song "Honey". Check it out:
It's such a bangin' version and ups the ante on the song by making it even better than the original. Great rap from Rod Wilkins too.
You can get the remix MP3 free from Fire Hazard Productions myspace page here. Enjoy!... MORE
I think a lot of people with much better credentials than I have already posted about Erykah Badu's new album New Amerykah Part One, and if you want an incisive take on how she fits into the contemporary R&B scene, better look elsewhere. Still I have been listening to this album, just recreationally, for a couple of weeks and it seems like a really good one. It's passionate and smart and complicated and angry and very, very physical. And since I've been thinking about ... MORE
Cool track off her latest album, New Amerykah Part One (4th World War). Funky. Kinda has the There's a Riot Goin' On Sly vibe.
Erykah Badu's voice is sweet as molasses on a warm night: smooth and slippery. I can only imagine what she's like in person on a warm Miami night under the stars. This video from last week's Winter Music Conference in Miami makes it look pretty fabulous!
