What memory does it unfurl. I'm heading to Prospect Park tonight to check him and am psyched. Haven't seen the man in a while. And while I've heard these days his live set (read: voice) is a little weary, I feel like Dylan's music holds a special squishy spot in most people's proverbial 'sentimental heart'. For those who have seen his career evolution, his stack of albums are like totem poles of personal history.

'Tell Tale Signs' is a three-disc album that will include rarities and b-sides from the last twenty years. On February 17, 1965, I knew, of course, who Bob Dylan was. He was the guy who wrote "Blowin' In The Wind," and "Don't Think Twice," and the liner notes of a Peter, Paul & Mary album that my sister had. But Dylan didn't seem like part of my musical world. The immortal words of David Wooderson. The man, the myth, the legend. And in a movie full of great scenes, one of the most memorable for me is when Wooderson enters the Emporium, slo-mo style, set to Dlyan's 'Hurricane'.

For those several seconds, he was the epitome of late 1970's small town cool.

  I wish I could give you more information as to who's playin' on this track, or where, or when in '76 it happened. All I know is he doesn't perform this song very often. So, what's the connection? You connect the dots.

Not much is certain about the authorship of this, most of us believe its a mostly ad-libbed one-off Dylan thing that sorta grew to a point that building a song around it (with an eye towards "real" lyrics later?) seemed like a good idea. This was recorded during the (in)famous Bromberg Sessions.

    Yeah,  that's it...an excuse to post this track.    A Bob Dylan concert is an event in itself,  though these days they are best left to the true believers.  Its easy to spot the  folks who are here to see a legend, here to get that notation on their hip resume, or fullfilling a task on the bucket list.  They're usually glassy-eyed & weary halfway through the second song.  The True Believers, oblivious to tedium, hang on each jumble of squashed phrases & st...
