Well, what can I say about Little Axe that hasn't been said. I'm told its an acquired taste, but I liked him from the first listen.
As I understand it Skip McDonald was an integral part of the Sugar Hill house band. I cannot say I'm familiar with a lot of his work there, but his solo work is an exciting exploration of roots & offshoots. His cd Champagn & Grits is an absolute necessity in any collection of earthy/spacey rocknhipnbluesnjazz.
