Well, what can I say about Little Axe that hasn't been said. I'm told its an acquired taste, but I liked him from the first listen.

As I understand it Skip McDonald was an integral part of the Sugar Hill house band. I cannot say I'm familiar with a lot of his work there, but his solo work is an exciting exploration of roots & offshoots. His cd Champagn & Grits is an absolute necessity in any collection of earthy/spacey rocknhipnbluesnjazz.

Skip McDonald in an impromptu jam session with Doug Wimbish, Bernie Worrell, John McCarthy, Steve Scales, and Keith LeBlanc. (In the vid)

Uh oh..."acquired taste"...deadmandeadman...danger, Will Robinson, DANGER!

This sounds very gospel-ish. Are you getting ready to get religious? Shaving your head and saying Hare Krishna into the mirror while holding our your hand for change?

You can really hear the Jack Nitzsche touch on the production. First-rate.

Artist: Track: I Roll & I Tumble

The Video bears no direct tie to the song posted, or the artist.  But dermahrk wanted to hear more Joe Pug

Ray Wylie Hubbard who needs no introduction, takes on the venerable classic in his typically low-key, charming way.

Well, I, for one, do need an introduction to Ray Wylie Hubbard, if not to this song.

Thanks for the Joe Pug!
