Artists You Should Know About

Okay, okay...you guys have been talking about My Morning Jacket and they've been spinning their songs on my favorite local radio station. I trust all of these sources but for some foolish reason, I haven't picked up the albums yet. Shame, shame too...go ahead tell me bout it.
I actually saw this on MTV2 last night and now from the old MTV ...it hit me! It was slightly like the good old days with 120 minutes. Now, if we could get them to show 23 hours of quality music and maybe one reality show instead of the complete opposite.
It's mesmerizing...

I AM getting soft in my [older] age!
My best bud said that exact line to me last year at some point when I put a mellow album on in her car. And so for that, she got to go to an extremely mellow live show with me this past Friday. Yeah, that’ll teach her!
My favorite local community radio station was pimping a CD release party for a local talent and it’s been too long since I’ve been to a nice relaxed type show…$10 tickets (and no raping from ticketmaster), so why not…?
It was a beautiful night with clear skies for the hours between the swirls of hurricane tails we've been seeing. The moon was a nice crescent nestled in a pretty blue canopy that peaked through the branches of the huge oak just over the stage of the super casual open-air venue. Couples in love were whispering in each other’s ears and dancing along to the sweet folk sounds of Rebekah Pulley & the Reluctant Prophets.

My local girl here has a beautiful voice (not to mention, very easy on the eyes) and smooth sounding crew backing her up. Honestly, I can only take a few of these brilliant folk, often southern sounding songs on rotation (I can't bring myself to say country, but...it is what it is and was enjoyable nonetheless). All together, some really good musicians, jams and sound. And as a bonus she made an appearance with her alter ego band, the all-female tribute to the Velvet Underground: Venus In Furs...which was strange but pretty damn cool.

So there's a little of the down home sound going on here south of the south. And it makes some of the Florida folks dance, as you can see here...

...And I swear I still love to blast some hard-core tunes on a regular basis…it’s just a phase people, I promise.
P.S. Wish I had more time to roam around and see everything you all have going on, unfortunately everything I have going on, has not allowed for a whole lotta extra time...but I'm still feeling a whole lotta love for everyone here. Take care all.

May have to throw a few softer tunes on your mix (SOON TO BE MADE) !!! Just to give you a little mellow flavor betwixed all the mahem ;)
"mellow flavor betwixed all the mahem" Lizzie darling, you know how to work it my friend! This highly anticipated mix will no doubt delight these ears!!! ; )
just please forgive it's extreme latitude !!! As soon as I get back from MONOLITH & NYC the following weekend - I am all over it !!!
Sure, he's engaged and she's reportedly seeing someone. They call themselves friends and a "2 person social group"....please! Anyone can clearly see there is something more going on between the two! Perhaps it IS simply musical creativity flowing from their hearts...but DAMN...I'm thinking they are totally hot for each other!
Especially after watching last nights episode of "Live at Abbey Road". The show features artists and bands you can get "up close & musical with". And ooo weee, "The Kills" recorded a few songs that premiered on Sundance last night. The two played "Gettin Down", "Last Day of Magic", and "Good Night Bad Morning" facing each other (like we've seen in clips from live shows) going from about 25 feet between them closing into a microphone stand between them. The camera goes from behind him to see her passion filled, "I want you right here, right now" stare. Then circles behind her to see his "don't tempt me, woman...explict explicit" stare back. Get on with it already you two!!! If they don't have the ultimate attraction, then they sure are skilled at portraying long restrained desire, and bottling up their sexual tension for selling (and I'm buying it!).

Did anyone else catch this?
Am I the only one that'd love to see a fairy tale ending where the, two obviously attracted, lead roles end up hooking up happily ever after?
And do you guys catch your favorite acts on music featuring T.V. shows like Abbey Road or "Later...with Jools Holland"? (Enough questions for now, sorry)
The show has off and on talents to my liking but has featured intimate insight with some my favorites like Gnarls Barkley, Paul Simon, The Black Keys, The Killers, Kate Nash, & The Fratellis last night with The Kills. New episodes appear Thursdays at 10pm but I've seen reruns throughout the week as well.
Here's a quick jump to Abbey Road, if you're interested
Have a great weekend all!

What I would strongly advise him is to move as far away from Kate Moss as possible.
I usually follow links from MOG to youtube and watch some of my artists at shows like that, although I do not seek them out on my own.
Have a great weekend, dear!

Ah...that picture again! Thanks a lot Anna! ; )
I bitched and moaned about them not coming to FL on their US tour but I don't know if I could handle it after see this clip here and this clip there...whew! ; )
Yeah, nothing sexy or sexual about THAT picture, Anna. ;-)
SunnyD - I've got to plead dorky-ness. I already assumed they were a couple. It would make sense, wouldn't it?

And who doesn't think of these characters when you see that video...?
This post is APPROVED by Jameson. Haha. Thanks for showing me this vid! As a HUGE MMJ fan, I was woefully oblivious of this video. It's CREEPY, I love it.
lookie who's here on a friday!
i don't have MTV2 (or maybe i do but i don't watch TV lately, and by lately, i mean years) but i did go to the website for something work-related and thought it was far less contrived than MTV (or maybe that's just 'cuz it's new).
anyhoos, i miss 120 Minutes. and (whispering) i don't own any MMJ album, too... you need to hide this post from Mike MariG, or poke his eyes so he doesn't find out. (;
