The Rolling Stones bassist, Ronnie Wood has checked himself into rehab to combat his longstanding battle against the bottle.

A spokesperson for Wood said:

"Following Ronnie's continued battle with alcohol, he has entered a period of rehab. His close family and friends say he is seeking help and look forward to his recovery."

Wood's wife Jo, 53, left him after widespread reports of his binges and liaisons with Ekaterina Ivanova, a 19-year-old Russian-born waitress who has been bragging about her fling with the 61-year-old guitarist on her Facebook page, According to London's Daily Telegraph.

This June, Ronnie celebrated his 61st birthday joined the Rolling Stones in February 1976.

Thank goodness he won't be dealing with an addiction to coke or smack. If a Rolling Stone can't handle hard drugs, then what hope is there for the rest of us?

It's always those 19 year old Russian waitresses isn't it?

He is not a bassist. Bill Wyman was the Stones bassist before he quit. Ronnie Wood is a guitarist. I hope he gets better. Addiction sometimes is just self medication for a larger problem. Good luck Ronnie.

He looks like he's had a rough time of it.  Good luck to him.

If I had to look at Keith's  & Mick's bums onstage, I'd be a raging drunk too.  Therefore, I have no excuse for living in the pub.

Better not fuck up the Faces reunion! Just kidding, but not really. Good luck to Ron. On a positive note, maybe this is an opportunity for the Stones to get their real guitarist back, Mick Taylor! Then Ron rejoin the Faces permanently when he gets out. It's a win win!

The last time he was out of rehab, he said the hardest part was the night. His day more or less started at 9pm and everyone else was ending theirs. Can't be easy. Of course, having a pub bar in your basement can't help either.

I'm a lifetime lover of the Stones---just saw this post b/c I can't be at a computer that much...addiction is SO hard, and I know Ronnie has struggled with (alcohol especially) for a long time.  I wish him well and hope he can find the strength to overcome --If he was messing around with some 19 year old on Jo, though, well, that is disappointing.
