Artist: Chubbs Toga

I know I promised some reviews and I will still get to them. I have the new Suzanne Vega, Satellite Party, Worldwide Spies, and a couple others that I need to get to. By the weekend I swear...

Elsewhere, its the 4th and I don't really have plans. In the past I have been fortunate enough to live in major metropolitan areas such as DC, St Paul/Minneapolis, St Louis, or Kansas City which has allowed me to see some amazing music on the 4th. However now in a small town in the middle of nowhere we don't have the venues/draw that those cities have. We also don't have the fireworks display that I have grown accustomed to. (I also would have to drive 20 minutes without accounting for traffic to see them). What we do have is a kickin' live band I have now seen 4 times (?) - Chubbs Toga! I am excited for the show and its walking distance from home so come 2am it'll be stumbling distance. I'll be back tomorrow with a review of the show.

Happy Independence Day

So my show is tonight on KUOI, the radio I work for. You can check it out at KUOI.org. Anyway, I was thinking about something fun to do and decided that the music tonight will be all covers...here's the tentative lineup (with the artist performing the tune, not the original artist):

Yup that's a good one...

How about about half the stuff Richard Cheese does? Or the Ben Folds b-side "Bitches ain't shit"?

Ahh...back in the world of music. Stupid computer crashed but now its back on line. Thanks Bill.

Anyway. Its been 3 monthes (+) since I posted but oh well.

Got a position at the college radio station as Programming Director so I will attempt to effect change from within. Unfortunately the Music Director seems to be in direct opposition to my stated beliefs about music. Oh well. It will make for a good dichotomy at the station. Hopefully in the fall I can push through some shows that will force other music into the station. We'll see.

More specifically related to music: Saw Left Hand Smoke last night at John's Alley. Great live show. Lots of fun, good songs, great guys. Check it out.

Reviewed new Tom Morello Album for the station - I was disappointed. It felt like spoken word poetry with some basic guitar playing in the background. Sorry all you Tom Morello fans, I loved Rage and still enjoy Audioslave but this was a letdown.

More reviews are forthcoming as well.
