THE CAVE SINGERS Once again, another track that has latched on to me and I can't seem to shake it. My wife and I woke to the alarm (set to music) yesterday morning for a run with friends. The NPR show Sounds Eclectic was on and the in-studio guest was a group called The Cave Singers. Born of punk roots, these guys have put together a wonderful folk-y CD that has been rolling on my iPod for the past 36 hours. I cannot get enough of it. Ooooo... I found their blog. Just wanted to drop a note to encourage all to check out The Cave Singers debut on Matador. Caught the trio at a free show in Brooklyn and was blown away. Definitely moving on my best of the year list---one of those records that continues to grow with each listen.

The Cave Signers are really growing on me. And now I've just found out that they're coming to town in October. Just about the time Phoenix starts to cool down which is good because The Modified's AC doesn't work all that great.
the cave singers are new, the sound is not. they have been creating this sound for the past year in a basement on 12th ave in seattle, washington. featuring members of the murder city devils and pretty girls make graves this band has certainly been talked about. they have only played a handful of shows so far and have many lined up. their sound is old in a good way. it's what i could listen to when i'm 70 drinking moonshine on my porch, shotgun within arms reach. it's...
