my music fixation of the week is track one off the forthcoming (2008) fourth album, The Wishes and the Glitch, of Brooklyn's Say Hi to Your Mom, presently known by the shorter variation, Say Hi.
i am equally glad to mention that the previous release, last year's Impeccable Blahs, references the Buffyverse of Joss Whedon.

_say hi_ i got tickets for saturday night at this local venue, the earl. one of my favorite venues here in atlanta. i bought these tickets to see a band that i have been a fan of since its infancy: bishop allen. i posted about them a lil while ago and you can find it here if you care: http://mog.com/kaleef/blog_post/48423 however, i find that there are 2 other bands touring with them. +/- (plus/minus) and say hi to your mom. i like plus/minus so that was a bonus. ... so good tonight!say hi to your mom played at the vera project after three strong openers - the sea navy, sneaky thieves, and small sails. they seemed to build on one another. i missed most of the sea navy's set, but what i caught at the end was a good warm-up for what was to come. i'll admit that i wasn't blown away, some good generic indie rockish type, but good nonetheless. then came seattle natives sneaky thieves. lucky for me, their set included the two songs i had... I saw Say Hi To Your Mom last night at the Rock & Roll Hotel in DC... it was a great show. They are really good live, and the set was a good sampling of some of their best tunes, even though they only got to play for about 45 minutes. They are currently on tour with +/- and Bishop Allen. Check them out if they are coming your way. :)

i'm back. i like road trips, really i do. i would go so far as to say that they are one of my favorite things, period. but there are certain conditions which, when combined, seriously deplete the store of love i have, and even sour my feelings to something akin to hatred. if:a) my mother is in the carb) so are my little brother and sisterc) i can't pick the musicd) i have to spend time in the backseate) there is no leg roomf) i can't smokeg) the batteries on my cd play... okay, so i was just walking around the office in a fit of utter boredom, and i saw this tacked to jason's (coworker) cubicle: Christmas is coming.Carols I will be humming.Lyla is bumming. It's called "Jason's Christmas Haiku" and I can only assume it was written after I made my boss turn the speaker above my head ALL THE WAY DOWN because of the christmas music playing.
