I'm not very good at these concert reviews so bear with me here... So, last night I had the pleasure of seeing Rilo Kiley live for the first time. Kinda funny since I saw The Elected live years before seeing Blake Sennet's main band, but whatever. Benji Hughes is the first opener, but they deserve to be a headliner. These lyrics are strangely comforting to me. Just saying them back to myself while Jenn-eee sings them like some scorned horny little elf just makes me feel all warm inside. Odd.

Here's the short of it. Went to see Rilo Kiley last night. After a less than inspiring set from opener Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, Blake Sennet came on stage to ask if we minded listening to a few new tracks written by some friends of the band. I've made many of these recently. Since I'm a bipolar betty, I thought you might appreciate that I mixed up some "Fuck You, I'm so much better" songs, with some "We would have been good for each other..." (And with the choice of Pink: Who cares? It is the new quintessential breakup song.)

Its true. I like Rilo Kiley. BUT, I'm not one of those indie rock guys from LA that really want to fuck Jenny Lewis. Not that she's not a pretty girl- just not my type.
