Interesting that MOG labels this as "The Remainz ?" -- it is listed on my iPod as "The ? Remains." Anyways. Question of the day: Why do modern artists refuse to make music like this? Oy. Not an intentional trend after my recent break-up rap post by Aceyalone, I was just feeling like posting some Gangstarr and this track popped in my head. I always loved Guru's delivery, understandable and straight forward, he was never too flashy but always gave a solid verse that was clever and deliberate. This video is the anthem for Lebron James and Byron Scott. I thinkLebron took the comments of some of the Wizard player personal. After checking out many a Hip-Hop Thursday post from my Trusted MOG's, I've decided to join in. Those posts are always fun to read and listen to and I definitely have plenty of hip-hop to draw from. What ever happened to the whole jazz-influenced rap movement of the 90's? I just got done listening to the Dream Warriors album, and started thinking about all the great rap groups who incorporated jazz into their music. Digable Planets, US3, Gang Starr, and even a Tribe Called Quest. For me, this was a great moment in hip-hop, yet it died out rather quickly.
