Artists You Should Know About
Posts
Just when I think everyone is hipped to this guy, I find a whole group of people that are not.
Xavier Rudd is a didge player out of Australia. He also plays acoustic guitar, bass box, drums kit, etc...... all at the same time. A 'one man band' if you will. If there were ever an aboriginal troubador, that would be him.
Check out his signature song here:
Take in the visual - this is Xavier a few years back at a show in Melbourne.

Here's another great live tune - "12th of September:"

Cheers, A.

Our friends at PBS Frontline made a documentary that tackles the question... what happened to popular music? And why does it blow?
It's called 'The Way the Music Died.' It takes a look at the commercial, technological, and capitalist fascets that contributed to the demise of creativity, and why my friends like that 'Milkshake' song. Watch all four parts here:

Think music is already dead? Me neither. Check out the trailer for the documentary "Before the Music Dies," then go to Amazon and buy the DVD. Way more thorough, and a bit more hopeful.

Absolutely, it's good. Make sure you have a bucket to puke in.
Hey folks - check out the video below of Cory Branan on Letterman recently.
For those of you who don't know this guy, well, get to know him. Go to corybranan.com, go to the music page, and you'll be able to stream his last album.
Some call it alt-country, I say he's just a tremendous songwriter. Great freelance use of the guitar and spontaneous mannerisms, his lyrics are what does it.
Listen to these tunes on his page: Skateland South Tall Green Grass Crackerjack Heart

Enjoy, A.
