Artist: Sawchestra

So, the Sawchestra had a find first show in Brighton. I found a blog review from http://fredpipes.blogspot.com/:

"Saturday night was the debut of the Twilight Club in the Argus Basement. Organised by David Bramwell (of Catalyst Club fame) and Rachel Blackman, it involved parlour games on a medical theme and a show in the pit by Foz's Sawchestra. There's a video of some of it on Vimeo: http://www.vimeo.com/1890874 . I was a bit unsure of the geography of the place so missed the first sitting, but they sell proper beer (in bottles) and the performance was worth waiting for. Reminded me of those happenings at All Saint's, Powis Square in the late 1960s, but much more entertaining! This is a welcome addition to the Brighton scene, for the older and more discerning punter."

There is a video here:

And James reviewed it on his blog here

The whole evening was pretty amazing - much better than I expected or even hoped for.

The Twilight Club who ran the night organised an amazing room full of parlour games which also included a guy DJing using gramophones Foz? from David Devant and His Spirit Wife organised a surgery light to be hung in the room and for hospital scrubs to be available for everyone. The audience all joined in in singing and making noise along with the performance which was kinda amazing. At the end, the whole room sung along and we struggled to get them to leave. We did 2 performances that night and some people came to see both.

Anyway, I suppose the best review of the night came from from a guy (who, as a matter of interest, was in a band which was a first band to release a single with One Little Indian pre-Bjork days) He pretty much smiled the whole performance in this wide-mouthed grin and at the end said he loved it because he thought his 5 year old daughter would have gotten just as much from the performance as he did.

Other people said other really lovely things as well, including that we should do it more, and that the performance should tour to festivals and modern art museums and the organisers said they wanted us back for more. So, hooray!

The next show is on the 19th at the Windmill in Brixton, and then after that we are performing on halloween in a 17th Century mansion on central London

I'll be dissappointed if you don't come.
