An end to the one of the most bizarre stories from the road. Grunge-punk duo the Kills have found their tourbus which went missing last week following their gig at the Austin City Limits music festival. The band, who'd been on tour with the Raconteurs for the later part of the summer, announced via their Web site that "OUR BUS DRIVER IS MISSING AND/OR HURT/DEAD/or A THIEF. OUR BUS HAS DISAPPEARED" on September 30th, two days following their ACL gig.
The driver supposedly took off with the band's entire get up saying he was going to get new tires put on the vehicle, leading the band to call the feds in to investigate. The tour bus turned up abandoned yesterday (October 6th) in a Los Angeles parking lot. More details are coming.

a load of equipment was on the bus, including notes, journals, recordings of new material, plus the sound tech's microphone collection... all kinds of important stuff. it totally sux. but i'm thrilled to hear they got something back and hopefully everything will be tracked down including the shady character known as the BUS DRIVER.
but, don't hold this against all tour bus drivers. some are heroic at getting bands to the gig on time and bending time and space to make things work out on tour. (i used to be a tour bus driver, they're not all sketchy!)
