WHERE JIMI JANIS AND JIM WOULD HAVE BLOGGED

Artist:

Remember the song 'Rhythm Is A Dancer' by Snap back in 1992? Well it's being used in the latest ad for Drench Spring Water. See Brains from Thunderbirds strut his stuff in a way I've never seen him do it before! I think he looks scarily like the lead singer from Hot Chip, Alexis Taylor.

Apparently PuppetCraft created and operated a Brains puppet for the filming with CGI used in post production. It's quite impressive and certainly got me watching. Not sure even John Malkovich could operate his puppets this well.

One thing though, I can never forgive Snap though for the terrible lyric:

'I'm as serious as cancer when I say rhythm is a dancer'. Couldn't they have come up with any other word to rhyme with dancer?

From Wikipedia

Brown earned a fast reputation for outlandish and often macabre performances, which included the use of a burning metal helmet that led to occasional mishaps, such as a Windsor, England show in which the methanol fueling of the helmet crown poured over his head by accident and caught fire; two bystanders doused the flames by pouring beer on Brown’s head, preventing any serious injury.[2] He was also reputed to have stripped naked while performing shows, notably in Italy (for which he was arrested).[3]

By 1968, the debut album, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown by the band with the same name, became a surprise hit on both sides of the Atlantic. Produced by Pete Townshend of The Who (the album was issued on Track Records, the label begun by the Who's management), it spun off an equally surprising hit single, "Fire" and also included a macabre cover of the Screamin' Jay Hawkins oldie "I Put a Spell on You". The band included Vincent Crane on Hammond organ, Drachen Theaker on drums, and Nick Greenwood on bass. Crane and Greenwood eventually left to form Atomic Rooster, while Drachen was replaced briefly by Carl Palmer (later of Emerson, Lake and Palmer) during the band's second American tour.

One of the all-time "All Right! It's That Song!!" songs. Indefatiguably cool.

I can envision a weekend pub contest in which contestants attempt to best one another by saying "I AM THE GOD OF HELL-FIRE !!!!" most convincingly.
